Sunrise Yoga January 3- 28, 2022!

This will be my 8th year teaching Sunrise Yoga in Mallacoota! Join me in celebrating our collaboration with our environment, Earth, as we practice yoga movement, postures, breath work, relaxation, and meditation at Bastion Point Beach. These gentle sessions are appropriate for all stages of experience, beginner to advanced. The practice will be adapted to those that attend and to our weather conditions on the day. I look forward to meeting newcomers and catching up with those of you I haven’t seen for a while.

What is Hatha Yoga?

The term Hatha Yoga has been commonly used to describe the practice of asana (postures). The syllable ‘ha’ denotes the pranic (vital) force governing the physical body and ‘tha’ denotes the chitta (mental) force. Hatha Yoga awakens and balances these two energies in our lives. More correctly, Hatha Yoga harmonises the body systems and hones the mind.

The Hatha Yoga system includes yoga postures (asana), physical and mental detox and cleansing techniques (shatkarmas), use of energy release techniques (mudras and bandhas) and breathing techniques that awaken vital energy and soothe the nervous system (Pranayama). Fine tuning of your body and mind leads to equilibrium and strong and consistent mental power even as you age.
